It’s been a while since my last post as I’ve not had a lot of spare time and what little time I’ve had I’ve spend playing games.
To try and get back into it I’ll write up a little bit about some of the games I’m currently playing.
In the mobile world I’ve spent most of my mobile gaming playing Summoners War. I’ve got 2 accounts on the go, my main plays it normally and is at a point where I can complete most content except high level PvP.
My alt account is a no summons account using only monsters gained without summoning. My alt isn’t that much behind my main account, it just does dungeon runs slower and has now completed the 3 main dungeons and ToA normal. Like my main it can’t do high level PvP.
With PvP in Summoners War, at a high level players have overpowered nat5 (very rare) monsters and it’s difficult to compete without them and unless you’re willing to spend a lot of money there’s no chance to compete.
Other than PvP all content can be cleared with easy to get monsters as I’m proving on my no summons alt account.
Other than Summoners War, I’m playing a little bit of Clash Royale, it’s fun in small doses but I’m at a point where my cards have either stagnated as I can’t afford to upgrade them or they are unusable until I get more cards and level them up. Without spending money it’ll be slow to improve my cards and I’m not playing enough to spent money on it.
I’ve tried a few other mobile games but not gotten hooked. Summoners War like games like Dungeon Hunter Champions, Chain Strike, Might and Magic Elemental Guardians, Knights Chronical amongst others start off ok but soon get too grindy and I don’t have time to grind multiple games.
On my PC I’ve been playing a lot of World of Warcraft since the Battle for Azeroth expansion went live. I’ve got my main Alliance Paladin to max level and doing world quests, I’m starting to get a little bored now though, not because there’s nothing to do but rather it’s very repetitive. The same happened in Legion and other games took over.
I’ve had fun levelling up and the storylines were good so I’ve used my level 110 boost on a horde character so I can experience the horde storylines too.
After that I’m not sure how much I’ll play especially with a few new games coming out soon I’m interested in.
I’ve also been playing a lot of Football Manager 18. It took me a while to get into a save this year. I started off with Workington Reds but never looked like getting promotion from the bottom league and I tried a game with Man Utd and with an all out attacking formation found the team winning every game which wasn’t actually that much fun, it was too easy. I tried a few random teams and other countries but couldn’t get into any save.
I think my main issue was getting a tactic working with the players I had so every season just started off bad.
I’m now in a save as Carlisle United and have gotten them promoted a couple of times to the Championship which I’m enjoying.
I decided go with Carlisle as some of my best saves over the years were with them. Also as I had been struggling with tactics I decided to spend a bit of time working on my tactic and then sign players to fit into it.
I got a 4-4-1-1 formation working which keeps possession, restricts opposition to long shots and creates my team chances. It’s worked well so far and it’s surprised me that my wingers seem to score a lot of goals.
I’ve also had something happen to me that I’ve never experienced before and that is having the club being taken over by a tycoon.
At the moment the money makes little difference because even though I have £40 million transfer fund and over 200k wage budget no one wants to come to the club, players I want won’t talk to me as the club reputation is too low.
If I can survive in the league then maybe next year players will come to the club. For now my first team is the same as last year with a few young free transfers coming in as back up.
Eve Online pulled me back in too for a brief time. I join a low sec pirate corp and got into a few fleets and I was enjoying playing it but other games pulled me in and my Eve time dropped off. I still log in now and again to see what’s happening and fleet up but the last month I’ve logged in to find no one in corp online. There’s been some drama where the top killers have left and the CEO has had some real life issues so hasn’t been getting on. Last I seen the corp was pretty much dead, the CEO doesn’t want to hand it over to anyone and can’t play herself at the moment.
It’s a shame really as the corp had just had it’s 1 year anniversary and was the top corp in our low sec region for kills.
I’ll need to decide whether to move to a new corp, wait and see if this corp revives or stop playing again. With all the other games I play I may just stop playing or play solo casually and see what I can do.
I’ve also dabbled with a few other PC games over the last few months with nothing really keeping my attention for long.
I got No Man’s Sky on sale when the Next update came out which I’ve found enjoyable, I like the exploration and it looks beautiful. The base building is ok, I’ve seen some wonderful bases online that people have done but I’m not that creative, my current base is a box with a door.
I played a couple of early access games, one is They Are Billions which was fun for a while but difficult and the other is Project Gorgon which is an old school mmo, it’s ok but still has a lot of work needing done on it.
I’ve played a little bit of Crusader Kings 2 but not quite got my head around it all yet. My best game was going and I’d conquered most of Ireland but when I died my heir didn’t get all my land, not sure how it happened as I thought it would all go to him but he was left with only a couple of areas. I’ll need to look into how to play the game better next time.
I’ve also just started playing on Diablo 3 again for season 15. I’ve gone with a Monk as that’s the only one I’ve not yet got to level 70 and it’s got me thinking about buying the Necromancer when I’m finished with the Monk so I’ve got every class at max.
I’ve not been playing my Xbox as much as I used to as my PC gaming takes up most of my time.
I did get Call of Duty WWII when it went on sale and I’ve enjoyed the multiplayer, I don’t play the single player campaign but the multiplayer is standard CoD where I like go play hardcore team death matches. I actually wanted a go on it the other night but it needed a 12.6gb update so I didn’t bother.
I’m not even sure why I had to download anything, I’ve not got the DLC and have no intention to get it but it appears that’s what I had to download. I don’t think it used to be like that, if it is the DLC I can’t play then it’s just clogging up my hard drive.
I also tried getting into a game of Red Dead Redemption using the backwards compatibility function but I didn’t get far as WoW game out which took my attention away.
There’s a few games coming out soon I’ve also got my eye on.
Call of Duty Black Ops 4 is out tomorrow, 12th October 2018, and looks good. I’m interested in the Battle Royal mode as it should be a more polished version of Pubg and I know I’ll enjoy the usual multiplayer I normally play.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is out on 26th October 2018 and looks amazing. I enjoyed the first one when it came out and from what I’ve seen so far the sequel looks good.
Next up is Fallout 76 on 14th November 2018. Fallout 4 was my first Fallout game and I spent lots of hours playing that so I’m hoping Fallout 76 will hook me too. I’m not sure how it’ll play with it being an online shared world for I believe up to 24 players at a time but I’m intrigued to find out.
Football Manager 2019 also comes out soon on 2nd November 2018, 2 weeks earlier for pre-order beta. I’ve bought every version previously released but I’m not sure if I’ll get this one straight away. The changes each year seem to get less and less, just UI changes or tweak in the match engine.
Usually at the point a new game comes out I’m at a point in my save where I’ve played lots of seasons and won everything so don’t mind starting again but I’m enjoying my current save with Carlisle and not ready to start again.
I may get it later in the year when it comes on sale, it often does around Xmas and new year.
Hopefully I’ll find some extra hours somewhere to play all these games and even more hours to blog about them.
